Allergy Aware School Award

We have launched our Allergy Aware School 2022-2023 award, to recognise and reward schools across the UK committed to raising allergy awareness with staff and pupils!

Anaphylaxis, the most serious allergic reaction, usually begins within minutes and can be life-threatening. We encourage a whole school allergy awareness approach as this is the safest way to manage allergic pupils in school. The more staff and pupils who have an understanding of allergy and can recognise the signs of an allergic reaction, the safer all allergic pupils in school will be.

What the award is....

This award recognises schools who invest in training staff in allergy management, encourage allergy awareness with pupils, hold spare adrenaline auto-injectors and have a policy in place for allergy management at school. You can find an example, editable template model policy here.

Awarded schools will receive a digital certificate and a digital logo to use on their website and letterheads.

Schools will be awarded if they fulfil the following criteria:
  • right_arrow_orange_icon All staff (minimum 20) complete our AllergyWise for Schools (including certificate) online training course
  • right_arrow_orange_icon Deliver our allergy awareness resources to pupils in school
  • right_arrow_orange_icon Purchase spare adrenaline auto-injectors
  • right_arrow_orange_icon Have a policy in place for managing allergic pupils in school

What the award is not....

This award is not an endorsement or accreditation of the schools allergy management policy. Awarding a school does not mean the school is 100% safe or free from any allergen. We are relying on information provided by the school and reserve the right to remove the award if necessary.
